Hi, I created a terrain in gaea and exported the height map as 8k png file. I then used it to displace a plane in cinema 4d but I get this strange edge issue whereby the edges seem to spike some in up direction some down. I tried in blender too and the same problem persist. I also tried by cropping the heightmap edges in photoshop but it doesn't help. Please someone guide me if I am doing anything wrong.
pj9991 Did you use bias/gain or subtract without clamp(combine node)?
DimKoutris Hi my node setup is simple. I didn't alter any properties in combine node. I have these options in the combine node:
Map UVs on your plane, project texture from the top. Then displace. "Generated" UVs have these artifacts usually. Goes for all apps, not just c4d.
pj9991 First of all why did you combine the voronoi with the constant? Maybe thats the cause that the heightmap misbehaves in C4D. I'm not a C4D guy but try to tick the drop to floor down right and see if that resolves the issue
DimKoutris Thanks I will give it a try and see how it goes. I combined voronoi with the constant to have a more flat top side of the terrain.
pj9991 Use the raise button in the post process stack(decrease)
This happens with edge interpolation in many software. Depending on the software, changing the UV tiling from 1.0 to 0.999999 should help.
The "wall artifact" is essentially the other side of the map wrapping around.
