This can be a great way to sharpen or "bevel" a vertical edge. However, there is an issue where at larger resolutions I can't really control it how I would like.
While I get that, for consistency across resolutions, you've made Aperture a consistent minimum size, there still exists a need for finer control at higher resolutions. At 2k it's simply massive for the resolution. To prevent breaking the work of others in the future, however. This refinement should be something we can choose to turn on or not. perhaps basing it on the size of a pixel at 512,1024,2048,4096. 1 iteration being 1 pixel distance at that resolution (seems like the tool is set to 512 being the pixel size in the current version already..) This way we can maintain the distance over the higher export settings, but can choose our refinement level at the start. Yes I understand this means I won't really see a change at the 512 preview level if I've set it to 2k as my base pixel size. Such is the cost for fine control 🙂
Also note, in 1.3, if you turn off parallel processing it changes the scale of the circle generated. Try altering the resolution, then turning off parallel processing and notice how the size changes. For example.. setting it to 128, then turning it off causes the size of them to explode.
